SafePro water fire extinguisher for Class A fires
The SafePro water fire extinguisher is the simplest kind of extinguisher: a cylinder of water kept under pressure, with a hose and nozzle that throw a steady jet. A water fire extinguisher works by cooling burning material below the point where it can keep burning. The manufacturer lists it for Class A fires, which means ordinary solids such as wood, paper, cloth, cardboard, rubber and many plastics.
It sits in our water type extinguishers section within the fire extinguishers range from SafePro.
What “stored pressure” means here
The water and the propellant gas share the same cylinder, and the cylinder stays pressurised. You pull the pin, squeeze the lever and water comes out straight away. A gauge on the head shows whether the pressure is in the normal range, so a daily look is enough to spot a problem.
Where it makes sense
- Timber yards, furniture units and sawmills
- Paper and carton godowns, printing presses and textile units
- Schools, hostels and offices with mostly paper and furniture
- Farm stores with straw, hay and sacks
Where not to use water
Never use a plain water jet on live electrical equipment, burning oil or petrol, or cooking oil. Water conducts electricity and can spread a burning liquid. In mixed-risk areas, keep a CO2 fire extinguisher or ABC fire extinguisher next to the water unit. For large yards, the SafePro water trolley fire extinguisher carries much more water on wheels.
