Vertex rubber rumble strip V160 for early warning
The Vertex rubber rumble strip V160 is a low rubber strip, 500 x 100 x 25 mm, laid across the road. When a vehicle crosses a set of these strips, the driver feels a light vibration and hears a hum. That tells them to slow down before something ahead, such as a gate, a pedestrian crossing, a sharp turn or a speed breaker.
Find it with our speed breakers in the road safety equipment range from Vertex.
Rumble strip or speed breaker?
A rumble strip warns, while a speed breaker makes the vehicle slow down. At 25 mm high the V160 is much lower than a speed bump, so traffic keeps moving but drivers are alerted. Many sites lay a few rows of rumble strips before a Vertex rubber speed breaker so the hump does not come as a surprise.
Planning the layout
- Strips are placed end to end to cover the road width, much like speed breaker sections.
- They are usually laid in a few parallel rows with a gap between them, so the vibration repeats.
- The number of pieces depends on road width and the number of rows. Share both and we will help you work out the quantity.
Where it is used
Rumble strips suit factory and campus roads, toll and security gates, school zones, hospital entries and approaches to sharp bends. The yellow and black colour stands out on concrete and asphalt. For night warning, add road studs along the edge.
